Do you live in an apartment block and believe solar energy is an exclusive privilege of single-family homes? Reality has changed immensely. Within the urban fabric of cities like Barcelona and its metropolitan area, communal installations are growing at an exponential rate. Sharing the sun's energy on a common roof drastically reduces the initial investment for each neighbor.

Making the Law more flexible

Traditionally, reaching an agreement within the owners' assembly was the biggest hurdle. However, the legal framework (Horizontal Property Law) now establishes much more flexible requirements. Presently, a simple majority (only a third of the neighbors) is enough to approve the installation project, provided it is an improvement aimed at energy efficiency. The neighbors who decide not to participate will not have to assume the cost of the work, but obviously, they won't benefit from the generated savings either.

Distributing the savings smartly

Through the Collective Self-Consumption model, a "distribution coefficient" is set in writing. This means that if 10 neighbors invest, the generated energy will be automatically distributed according to each person's initial participation. This discount is automatically applied to the individual electricity bill of each home.
