If you imagine a photovoltaic installation, it is normal to think of large panels facing upwards to collect light. However, it's not enough to bolt them in any position. Spanish geography features a high latitude relative to the equator (generally between 36º and 43º N), so metering the roof's orientation determines the final difference in what you'll pay for electricity each year.
The Holy Grail: True South and 30 degrees
On a purely theoretical level, pointing your home's panel due South (Azimuth 0º) with a tilt of around 30º or 35º degrees turns out to be the sacred configuration across the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. It grants an astonishing balance, capturing highly perpendicular sunlight both during long summer afternoons and pale December months.
But urban planning is rarely perfect. At Serenovables, if your villa faces South-East or South-West, we don't decline the project. We use modern half-cut panels and install coplanar mounts that, despite perhaps losing a minuscule ideal 5% or 7% by brushing against deviated orientations, still completely smash your electricity bill to incredible levels compared to your regular consumption.
